At first, Intelligence Quotient (IQ) tests were used to measure person’s intellectual ability, including the ability to use logic to solve problems, understand abstract ideas, learn and adapt to change. In the last 20 years, researchers have expanded the definition of human intelligence. The concept of Emotional intelligence, sometimes referred to as EQ (“emotional quotient”) was coined by psychologists in the 1990s and has emerged as a way to describe another set of thinking skills. Emotional intelligence refers to your ability to recognize and control emotion and use that awareness to guide your behavior. Its use quickly spread into other areas, including business, education, and popular culture.
